Visually speaking, Robert Capa made Israel. Through that act he erased Palestine. The vision developed of Israel is captured in the 303 published photographs took over course three trips 1948–50. This article explores ideological frameworks shaped Capa’s understanding Israel/Palestine and probes concealed context his images. analysis shows covered topic through an ideologized lens depicted as a heroic nation Holocaust survivors victors war, while Palestinians Nakba were hidden from view. was important because internationally renowned photographer who not official Israeli propagandist, yet images served function.
